Tonight I got off work early, so it was a given that I needed to go on some sort of adventure. At work I ask a couple of buddies who also work there if there was anything to do. At first we thought that we would just go climbing somewhere, but then Jake had a great idea. We could drive up to Idaho and visit the Niter Ice Cave because you know you, its night and its the Niter Cave. So I got off and I gathered up the stuff I needed, I bought some waterproof shoes just in case, borrowed a headlamp from my roommate Rachel, bundled up in what I hoped would be warm enough, and at around 9:45 I set off on an adventure with Jake, Kenji, one of Jake's roommates and his girl. We drove through the slight snow "flurries" up to the caves for an hour and a half possibly more. The whole time Jake was talking up this cave and how cool everyone told him it is. When we found it right off the road it looked pretty promising. So we headed into the cave. I recognized in a hurry that it was a lava tube, since there are some out by Delta, and we followed it for some time. We admired the graffiti, found a bat, slipped on the rocks, walked in mud, gazed at how the water on the ceiling looked silvery, and about ten minutes into it we hit the end of the lava tube.
So let me sum this up, we drove and hour and a half to go for a twenty minute walk in a tunnel. No worries, I had a blast! I mean it is usually the getting to your destination that is the fun part anyway... Next time we are going to hit the near by hot springs though...
