Bloody Ashes! What a great book!

I have been meaning to post this one for a while... I figure I should finally get around to it.

Over Thanksgiving break I decided that I needed something to take up my time. To accomplish this I borrowed book 13 of the Wheel of Time series, Towers of Midnight, from Kenji. For those of you who have no idea what the Wheel of Time is, it is an epic tale of the rise of the Dragon Reborn and the events which are leading up to the Last Battle against the Dark One. It is a fantasy book, so its a given that there are powerful swords, magic, many battles involving beast that aren't entirely human... There are 13 books so far, and they are not short. In fact the original author James Oliver Rigney (Pen name Robert Jordon) didn't live to finish the series. Because of this Brandon Sanderson has stepped up to the plate to finish the story for the millions of fans.

Anyway I should probably get to the point. And for those who are interested I will do my best to not have any spoilers. So Everything in the past 12 books has led up to this big moment!
The Last Battle is looming in the very near future. Mat is going to save a dear friend from the clutches of some creatures that already proven to be deadly. Egwene is struggling to rid the White Tower of the Black Ajah (supporters of the Dark one) Perrin is finally figuring out who he is while training in Tel'aran'rhiod, the world of dreams. Rand has been broken and is now the person who can get everything done that he needs to and he decides to do something drastic.  Avienda discovers what the future holds for the Aiel and does not like what she sees. Olver opens a letter that Mat swore he would leave unread, which actually contains a very important warning concerning the future of Andor as we know it. Then of course right as it seems like the Last Battle is going to begin, the book comes to an abrupt end leaving us wondering what is going to happen to our favorite characters in Randland.

Obviously if you get this far into the series you expect epic battles, and of course epic cliff hangers which is the way of Robert Jordon. These books create a whole new world for the readers. There are hundreds of characters and it can get pretty hard to follow. I highly recommend these books though! Really, just pick up The Eye of the World, and if you are like me you wont put them down. Of course there are 13 books now, and in the middle books the action starts to slow down. Don't give in to the temptation to stop reading! It's worth the effort to get through the slower books. I just ask that you do not look them up or anything. Every page you go to will have terrible spoilers and to be honest these books are best when you have no idea what to expect. Then again you would probably get the wow factor anyway. They're great!
